The Government of Ontario, educational establishements, and healthcare organizations offer funding, scholarships, grants, and more to eligble applicants in all areas of healthcare disciplines. We've highlighted some relelvant stand-outs below, and we invite you to learn more about these programs. 

 

Community Commitment Program for Nurses Grant

This Ontario program helps healthcare organizations fill high-need nursing positions by offering eligible nurses up to $25,000 in funding in exchange for a two-year full-time employment commitment.

New Grad Initiative Grant 

More Info:  2025/2026 Guidelines for Participation in the Nursing Graduate Guarantee Program 

 

The Nursing Graduate Guarantee (NGG) helps newly licensed Ontario nurses transition into practice by providing funded, full-time employment opportunities with mentorship and training. With up to 20 weeks of funded support, the funding amount is calculated based on a new nurse’s salary and benefits for up to 40 hours a week (depending on the employer’s full-time hours e.g., 37.5 hours).

Ontario Learn & Stay Grant

The Ontario Learn and Stay Grant helps students in eligible healthcare programs, such as Practical Nursing, Paramedic, and Medical Laboratory Technology/Science, in select Northern, Southwestern, and Eastern Ontario communities. Funding varies by program and covers tuition, compulsory fees, books, and required supplies/equipment. First-time applicants must register for an OSAP account.

RNAO Education Support Grant

The Nursing Education Initiative (NEI) Grant provides financial support for Registered Nurses (RNs) and Nurse Practitioners (NPs) in Ontario who work in Ministry of Health priority areas, such as acute care, long-term care, home care, mental health, public health, and primary care. Eligible nurses can receive up to $1,500 per year, with applications submitted online within 90 days of course completion.

Financial Assistance Available Through Employment & Settlement Service Providers for Newcomers

 

To support job seekers, newcomers, and individuals relocating employment opportunities across Ontario by reducing financial barriers to employment and community integration and to start employment with no financial burdens.

 

Northern Ontario Relocation & Settlement Support

 

Employment and settlement service providers may assist eligible individuals who choose to relocate to Northern Ontario for employment opportunities.

This can help reduce financial barriers for individuals accepting employment outside their current community and assist newcomers and job seekers with successful settlement and retention. Settlement agencies and Employment Ontario service providers help eligible individuals access housing, employment, and community support services.

 

 

Employment Assistance Benefits

 

To remove immediate financial barriers to employment and supports job readiness and workforce participation, Employment Ontario service providers may provide financial support to help individuals secure and maintain employment by covering essential employment-related costs.

 

Employment services offer customized support and financial assistance to help individuals overcome employment-related barriers and access sustainable employment opportunities.
