Personal Support Care

It is often said that Personal Support Workers are the back bone of the health care system and in no place is this more true than in home and community care.  CarePartners Personal Support Workers provide care for patients across the province in homes, retirement homes and shared care settings.

Our patients tell us over and over that the care they receive from their Personal Support Workers is the most important part of their health care services. PSWs assist patients to get all the day-to day-things done that are essential for good health but that the patients may no longer be able to do safely for themselves.

PSWs help patients with bathing, dressing, toileting, meal preparation, light housekeeping, exercising and medications. Sometimes Personal Support Workers receive additional training from CarePartners to perform skilled tasks such as administering insulin or using a glucose meter.

PSWs are also very important in providing relief for families who need a break from providing care for an ill family member. Many of CarePartners PSWs have additional training in caring for a person living with dementia so that families who need time away to refresh can be sure their loved one with dementia is in good hands.

If you are a PSW who would like to join CarePartners team, please see our Careers page. If you are looking to arrange PSW services in your home please see our Contact page and call the nearest office; we are always glad to talk to patients and their families to discuss what services best meet your needs.
