BPSO Candidacy

CarePartners is very excited to have been named a Best Practice Spotlight Organization candidate by the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario. From April 1, 2009 to March 31, 2012 we will be implementing four RNAO Best Practice Guidelines:

  • Risk Assessment and Prevention of Pressure Ulcers
  • Assessment and Management of Pain
  • Ostomy Care and Management
  • Assessment and Management of Foot Ulcers in People with Diabetes

Across all CarePartners divisions, committees of front line nurses will plan how to most effectively translate the recommendations from the pages of these guidelines into the day to day practice of our visiting, clinic and shift nurses. Selected nurses will attend RNAO Best Practice Champions workshops to learn how to implement guidelines, CarePartners will conduct research into guideline implementation and there will be many learning opportunities for nurses. All our nurses will be engaged in implementing the guidelines at the bedside.

Past experience in implementing Best Practice Guidelines has shown us that this project will not only energize our nurses by providing them with new knowledge and tools to provide quality care but it will also result in better outcomes for our clients – both important results.

The goal of our candidacy is to be named a Best Practice Spotlight Organization by RNAO in 2012 – however it is journey that will take us there that is the real prize.
